Free WIFI in cities and ports of your journey

 

At sea, its even more difficult to find a reasonable internet connection. Cruise companies adapt to the need of their guests to be "online" but the connections are still rare or extremly expensive. For this reason, I prefer to use free WIFI connections in the cities and ports of my journey. 

 

 

Below, you find a list of WIFI-hotspots, which I've found by myself or via research.

 

Abu Dhabi - Tent at the dock, access data (terminalad) oder look at the tourism info.

 

Akureyri -  Souvenir shop at the port (find access data in the shop)

 

Alicante - port terminal

 

Amsterdam - port terminal

 

Angra dos Reis - port terminal

 

Antalya - port terminal at Port Cafe

 

Antigua - Heritage Quay / Bar Harbour View at the port (great seaview!)

 

Armacao de Búzios -  "Mr. Brad's" at Rua Manoel Turíbio de Farias, 223

 

Aruba - McDonalds at Palm Beach /  Mojitos Bar (access data=onehappyisland)

 

Ashdod - partially on bus trips

 

Athen - port terminal

 

Bahamas - port terminal

 

Bahrain - There is an office building next to Bab al Bahrain, Go to the bathrooms/second floor, next to there is a telecommunication company with free wifi

 

Baltimore - At WTC and between WTC and Hard Rock Cafe /  railway station Pennstation and on Amtrak-trains

 

Barbados - port terminal

 

Barcelona - Free Wifi on HopOnHopOff buses /  McDonals at the port / Hardrock Cafe City Centre

 

Belem - Docas at port 

 

Bergen - port terminal

 

Bonaire - Leave the ship and go left to water taxi at  Karel's Beach Bar / free WIFI behind the big yellow building right from the dock.

 

Boston - Downtown, next to  Quincy Market

 

Boston/Harvard - The Coop (book store and Cafe). 

 

Brügge - Friet Museum and  "grote markt"

 

Brüssel - Atomium / Restaurant "old wild west", Rue Henri Maus 45"  next to Grand Place.

 

Brunei - port terminal

 

Buenos Aires - port terminal

 

Cadiz - port terminal

 

Cannes - McDonalds / at the town hall (Hotel de Ville)

 

Charleston - Tanger Outlet /  Apple Store (King Street)

 

Civitavecchia - Bar Galassia 3000 towards port exit

 

Cochin -  port terminal

 

Cozumel - Starbucks, you get access data with your bill

 

Curacao -  Free WIFI connection in the whole city centre! -> Curacao Free WiFi

 

Danzig - Free WIFI in the whole old town.

 

Dominica - Free Wifi at Garraway Hotel, right from the dock. 

 

Dover - After registratrion you get 3 hours free wifi connection at deck 5 /  city centre, Barclays Bank (Highspeed)

 

Dubai - port terminal (very slow) /  Dubai Mall -  Burj Khalifa.

 

Dubrovnik -   WIFI at the Cablecar Station / ARTcafe at the corner Don Frana Bulica. / Dr. Ante Starcevica.

 

Eidfjord - port terminal (access data: 3idfjord)

 

Ferrol - Free WIFI at  Hotel Parador/Herrerias Gardens. 10 Minutes on foot to the city centre, you can get a map from the tourist info where you find all wifi zones.

 

Fuerteventura - Cafe at port entrance.

 

Funchal/Madeira - market hall and at some spots in the pedestrian zone. 

 

Göteborg - port terminal

 

Gran Canaria - shopping centre next to the port (McDonald´s) or directly on your cruise ship 

 

Grenada - in the middle of the cruise terminal (3 USD for no limit surfing)

 

Guadeloupe - port terminal (you can only log in for one time) 

 

Haifa - port terminal

 

Halifax - port terminal

 

Helsinki - at the dock (Souvenirshop) / cathedral square / very good wifi at the railway station

 

Heraklion - port terminal

 

Ijmuiden - port terminal

 

Invergordon - village church ( volunteers will give you access data.) /  Next to the ship, towards Coop Supermarktet.

 

Isla Margarita - directly at the dock

 

Island - blue lagoon

 

Istanbul - Starbucks port exit

 

Itajai - port terminal

 

Izmir - Barnies Coffee & Tea Company, get access data with your order

 

Katakolon - port promenade

 

Key West - dock

 

Khor al Fakan - Hotel Oceanic

Korfu - port terminal / restaurant MARKAS between old city and port, there is free open WIFI "markaas_2"

La Coruna - shopping centre at the port

 

La Palma - McDonalds at the port and  und also in some Bars/Restaurants at the beach promenade. Free wifi also in the city centre.

 

Lanzarote - Costa Touqise / beach promenade

 

Arrecife - in some restaurants next to the city beach

 

Le Havre - port terminal

 

Limassol - at the port between ship and exit "The Mission to Seafarers"

 

Livorno - port terminal

 

Malaga - McDonalds at Placa de la Marina

 

Mallorca - nearly everywhere!

 

Malta - Cafes at the Waterfront,  at the  St. Christopher's Bastion in Lower Bakkara Gardens (on foot or via elevator up to the cannons)

 

Manaus - port terminal (get access data from tourist info)

 

Marmaris - port terminal

 

Marseille - McDonalds in the old harbour or Starbucks at Rue de la Republique

 

Martinique - McDonalds next to the ferry terminal

 

Miami - port terminal / Ocean Drive and at Starbucks in Bayside-Mall

 

Monaco - Cafe de Paris

 

Montevideo - port exit (ask for access data from the surfers sitting around) 

 

Montreal - Tourist Info in the city centre

 

Muscat - British Council at Al Bahri Rd. / at the traffic circle (Fish Roundabout) open WIFI  "linksys" 

 

Nassau - port terminal

 

New York - port terminal / Starbucks next to Wall Street, HRC at Times Square at Bryant Park in front of the Library and also inside

 

Nordkap - North cape hall

 

Norfolk - Mc Arthur shopping centre (Apple Store)

 

Oban - at nearly every bar or restaurant around the port

 

Ocho Rios/ Jamaica - Cafe on 1st floor of Taj Mahal Shopping Center / Bamboo Blue Beach.

Shanghai - "Subway" has an english LogIn, many others only work with chinese mobil number

Stavanger - Hotel Victoria (sometimes also works on the ship)

 

St. Kitts -Basseterre - Free WIFI at the bar in the middle of the shopping area next to the dock

 

St. Lucia - Bar "Caribbean Cocktails" am John-Compton-Highway

 

St. Maarten - McDonalds at Back Street (go left from dock)

 

St. John´s -  city bus

 

St. Petersburg - Peterhof at the fountain / Small kiosk towards the terminal exit (ask the owner for access data)

 

Stockholm - Souvenirshop next to the dock, access data: stockholmport. 

 

Thessaloniki - port terminal

 

Tallinn -  port terminal

 

Tanger -  port terminal

 

Teneriffa - Cafe Capricho at the port exit (access data: cafe capricho)

 

Trinidad -  port terminal (get access data from tourist info)

 

Tobago - Pigeon Point Heritage Park (at the bar) 

 

Ushuaia -  port terminal

 

Varna -  port terminal

 

Venedig -  port terminal

 

Valencia -  port terminal

 

Washington - HRC. Sometimes also in tour busses

 

Zadar - Burger shop Surf n Fries at the shopping street Siroka ulica 

 

Obviously I will not give you any guarantee, that all WIFI hotspots and access data will still be the same during your journey. I do also assume no liability by using an open WIFI connection from this list.
